The Salesforce Development Manager will lead a team to design, develop, and implement Salesforce solutions, managing the full development lifecycle, setting technical strategy and a roadmap, and collaborating with stakeholders to align with business goals.

The role is based in our modern Leicester city centre office with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities involve ensuring high-quality code, managing releases, establishing best practices, and overseeing the technical and service relationship with suppliers like Salesforce. The role requires a mix of technical expertise, project management, and leadership skills.

Role Purpose

The main purpose of this role will be to ensure high quality delivery throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.

This role will focus on motivating and managing the wider Tech development team to ensure Industry Standards are introduced and maintained so as to focus on reducing tech debt and improve security standards.

This role will be hands on and will take ownership of the Release & Environments Management to ensure platform stability is maintained to a high level.

Key Responsibilities

This will be a varied business facing role with the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure successful delivery throughout the Software Development Lifecycle through proactive leadership.
  • Ensure development occurs to a high set of industry standards, minimising Technical Debt, considering security and create supporting documentation.
  • Conduct code reviews to resolve conflicts and act as an escalation point where required.
  • Ensure successful handover from Build to Support functions to assist the wider Technology Department.
  • Manage Deployments following the defined DevOps process and take accountability for Releases and Environments taking steps to minimise the need for patches and emergency fixes.
  • Contribute to and lead where needed Scrum Ceremonies to ensure the smooth running of an Agile Development Team.
  • Participate in the planning/analysis of business requirements for system changes and enhancements alongside our PMO, Architecture & IT Ops teams.
  • Effectively communicate with the project team, providing updates on progress, risks and time frames. Manage expectations and handle objections appropriately.
  • Remain current with Salesforce technologies and best practices

  • Extensive hands-on Salesforce configuration & development experience, designing and successfully delivering projects and change at an enterprise level, including upgrades, configuration changes and releases.
  • Working with Agile methodologies and practices, including DevOps/release management experience.
  • Superior organisation skills including outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with the desire to troubleshoot and put quality first. A creative and inquisitive approach to problem solving taking pleasure in getting things right first time.
  • Stakeholder management experience and the confidence to challenge where required.
  • Experience in change management and governance.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative and be self-directed to meet deadlines.
  • Committed to continuous development of skills and knowledge.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Technical proficiency: Strong experience with the Salesforce platform, including custom development with tools like Apex and Visualforce, as well as Salesforce APIs and integrations.
  • People Leadership (direct and indirect): Proven ability to lead a team, coach, and guide professional growth.
  • Business acumen: Ability to understand business strategy and translate it into technical solutions.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Salesforce certifications: Admin, Advanced Admin, Platform Developer I, Agentforce Specialist.
  • Methodologies: Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Desirable

  • Experience with Jitterbit, Certinia, Pardot, Conga Composer, and Ownbackup.
  • Experience of completing User Acceptance Testing and deployment for complex business processes.
  • Experience with bulk data management tools, such as Data Loader, Demand Tools.
  • Experience of coaching others on system understanding and best practices.
  • Experience of managing system testing teams / resource.
  • Additional Salesforce certifications e.g. CPQ Developer, Data Architect, Integration Architect, Omnistudio Developer.
