As the site Environmental Engineer, you will be responsible for managing environmental compliance, conducting assessments, and implementing programs to minimise environmental impact, and support sustainability. You will have close collaboration with UK cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance are met.

Our mission is to drive leading performance in EHS Environmental performance to ‘protect and beautify our customers' operations and products, protect our employees, and preserve the environments in which we operate. In this role, you will be onsite at PPG’s Shildon Aerospace facility and report to the site Operations Lead.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor environmental regulations and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Manage and support reporting and permit renewal process.
  • Maintain environmental training programs (Air, Waste, Wastewater, Storm Water, SPCC).
  • Manage, maintain and update site Environment Impact Assessments.
  • Oversee waste management program.
  • Support supplier selection for environmental site aspects, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Management S & E.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Educate and train employees on environmental issues and compliance requirements, working in conjunction with site learning and development team.
  • Coordinate with government agencies, consulting firms and other stakeholders regarding environmental permits and regulations.
  • Manage site emergency response and contingency plans.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Promote sustainable practices within the organization.
  • Monitor and record data to drive decision making towards CI sustainability.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management / Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience managing environmental compliance, Familiarity with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of local, county, and governmental environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring and reporting tools.
Key Skills:
  • Understanding of environmental legislation, sustainability, frameworks, and ISO 14001.
  • Ability to analyse data and assess environmental risks.
  • Implementing projects to improve environmental performance.
  • Ability to train staff and liaise with regulators and stakeholders.
