Location: Shildon
As a Process Engineer, you will support the delivery of new or modified processes and minimise process losses and waste whilst upholding health and safety awareness in a high-volume laboratory and production environment. We are looking for someone who is ready to use statistical analysis data and apply the lean six‑sigma approach to support the introduction of key improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement process improvements to support Strategic Improvement Initiatives such as Right First Time and Material Efficiency.
- Support with validation and qualification of new products/products requiring process transfer.
- Provide process support with batch issues, adjustments etc.
- Assess process efficiency through laboratory testing and data analysis to meet client requirements and business needs.
- Write technical reports and other documents to comply with Aerospace standards.
- Introduce new or modified processes and supervise batches where required.
- Work in cross‑functional teams and build good working relationships with others.
- Introduce and modify process instructions, recipes, routings, costings, batch sizes etc using the Oracle system.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach and deputise for other team members where necessary.
Knowledge, Skills And Competencies Needed
- Self‑motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
- Good IT knowledge and skills (Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Outlook, etc).
- Excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach while working on multiple projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to influence and motivate staff.
- Able to follow PPG and departmental procedures.
Experience And Qualifications
- A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a relevant science‑related subject.
- Experience of leading improvement projects and problem solving (Desirable).
- Experience of collecting and analysing complex sets of data (Desirable).
- Knowledge and/or experience in a laboratory testing/manufacturing environment (Desirable).
