PPG is one of the world leading suppliers of many paints, coatings, sealants and adhesives to the global Aerospace Industry. It requires commitment to follow stringent guidelines and rules for products and processes. These guidelines and rules cover aspects such as handling, safety first, Aerospace quality, testing, validations, approvals, and deliveries. The goal is to achieve World Class performance in everything.
You will work with the site management teams, the departments, and operational teams. Your goal is to implement a strategy to further improve UK legal compliance of the site. Additionally, you will support the H&S operational activities related to the regulatory and PPG Management Systems requirements. You will report to the Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Plant Manager in ensuring the Shildon Management systems comply with UK legislation.
- Coordinate activities with the managers in the production departments to ensure executable plans are in place. These plans are to develop procedures, SOPs, and forms for the site. Then, work with the Operations Coordinators to systematically close out any gaps.
- Work with the managers to close out issues raised as part of the accident and incident reporting on the GS2 database. This includes the hazard reporting, and any actions from EHSMS self assessments and, where applicable, any required actions from third-party reports. These may need the development of applicable solutions together with the Operations Coordinators.
- Manage the tracking of the MOC process (management of changes) for the site. Support the site team with the closure of open actions. Provide regular reporting on any issues to the Plant Manager and the site team.
- Work with the site Training Specialist to maintain the training matrices for the site. This collaboration will help create the required training packages and deliver the training.
- Previous EHS experience essential
- A formal EHS qualification essential – IOSH, NEBOSH or similar
- An in-depth knowledge of UK EHS legislation and understanding EHS management systems
