The QC Methods Engineer is responsible for the administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of Quality Control processes to help operate the QC Department.

You will be the subject matter expert for QC management systems, QC training programme, equipment qualification, calibration management, and root cause investigations.

Working with QC, QA, Process, S&T, and Operations teams, the QC Methods Engineer ensures compliance with quality standards.

The QC Methods Engineer also drives data‑driven improvements and supports departmental and site‑wide quality goals.

You will report to the QC Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Manage QC procedures, SOPs, and associated metrics within the electronic Quality Management System (ETQ).
  • Support important QC systems including ETQ, QPulse, LIMS, sample management, Mainti4, and Gemba.
  • Maintain quality records, certificates, inspection reports, and associated documentation accurately and keep them audit‑ready.
  • Manage Change (MOC) process.
  • Continuous Improvement & Data Analysis
  • Analyse quality and laboratory performance data to identify trends, process variation, and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis and provide meaningful performance reporting.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving methodologies such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D, and PDCA.
  • Implement and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure sustainable improvements.
  • Equipment & Laboratory Support
  • Lead equipment qualification activities and support calibration and maintenance programmes.
  • Monitor calibration and servicing performance metrics to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
  • Provide technical guidance on QC processes, and best practices.
  • Audit & Quality Assurance
  • Plan, conduct, and support internal audits covering quality systems, documentation, safety, and laboratory compliance.
  • Support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
  • Track audit findings and ensure implementation and closure of corrective actions.
  • Training & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Manage QC training administration, competency records, and training metrics.
  • Promote QC personnel in quality systems and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Collaborate with QA, Operations, and Engineering teams on non‑conformances, process improvements, new product introductions, and validation activities.
  • Act as an important contributor to departmental and site continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within a Quality Control environment for over 5 years.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent quality management standards.
  • Over 5 years experience working in a highly regulated environment (Pharma/Food/labs).
  • Experience using data analysis to inform improvements with test methods.
  • Structured background using Root Cause Analysis & CAPA.
