Are you looking for a role where you can gain valuable project delivery experience whilst studying towards a recognised industry qualification? If so, we are offering the opportunity to undertake a Level 4 apprenticeship in Project management. On completion of the course the successful candidate will be qualified to Associate project manager level and aligning with Association for Project Management for Associate Membership.
As an apprentice within the Environment Agency you will gain new skills working within a supported learning environment, receive on the job training as well as time to complete your learning. As well as undertaking your apprenticeship you will work directly with our project teams consisting of Project Support Officers, Project Managers and Project Executives. You will be involved in a wide variety of project management, which will keep your days varied and interesting whilst building your knowledge and experience. You will work on our national flood risk programme contributing to the delivery of flood alleviation projects and various operational projects.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship please carefully read the qualification requirements within the Additional Information pack. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises. Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. The team we are the Project and Programme Delivery team (PPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. The North-West PPD hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing approximately 75 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM). Each PTM manages Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the delivery of projects within our Flood & Coastal Erosion Risk Management programme using our framework suppliers.
There are many routes into enrolling into an apprenticeship but you must meet the apprenticeship eligibility criteria, detailed within the Additional Information pack. Experience is not as important as your energy, enthusiasm and passion for the environment, working for the Environment Agency and a career in project management.
The successful candidate will:
- have great organisational skills and enjoy problem solving with a good attention to detail
- can manage multiple deadlines and demands on your time
- be an enthusiastic self-starter who enjoys working as part of a team
- have good written and verbal communication skills
- be able to work well with a variety of people
- will be working towards or hold a valid UK driving licence
