Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work within a Powys Therapeutic Children\’s Home. Would you like to join a passionate and supportive multidisciplinary CAMHS team, as well as taking on a key role in the development and delivery of a bespoke therapeutic accommodation provision for children and young people in the care system in Powys with complex emotional needs?

You should have a passion for working with children, young people and families, as well as significant post qualification experience of providing psychological assessment, highly specialist interventions, supervision and consultation. You will need to be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. Our Psychology and Psychological Therapies Team places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and supporting personal and professional development.

Main duties of the job

Provide psychological expertise into the Powys Therapeutic Children\’s Home including:

Highly specialised psychological assessment, formulation, evidence-based intervention to children young people and families.

Specialist psychological consultation and clinical supervision to staff to support them to develop their knowledge and skills to provide a supportive, therapeutic environment for children and young people to thrive.

Analysis of training needs, design of training and skills development programmes, and delivery and evaluation of training.

Acting as a core part of the decision-making team considering the suitability of placements within the Powys Therapeutic Children\’s Home for specific children and young people, and taking a key role in planning and supporting the transition of children and young people both pre- and post-placement.

Taking a leading role in developing an attachment-aware, trauma-informed clinical model within the Powys Therapeutic Children\’s Home, including supporting staff wellbeing initiatives

The base for the post will be in Newtown, with a combination of face to face and remote working.
