Due to an expanding service, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a pro‑active and dynamic nurse to join our team as an Immunisation Clinician in North Powys. We have opportunity for 1 x full time position (37.5 hours/5 days per week).
The successful applicant will work closely with the Lead Nurse & Clinical Supervisor to increase local uptake by providing and supporting immunisation and vaccination services to the eligible population of Powys, in line with the National Immunisation Framework.
As Immunisation Clinician you will:
- Provide Clinical Supervision to the Heath Care Support Worker Immunisers.
- Deliver immunisations and vaccinations in a wide range of settings, including vaccination centres, outreach clinics at local community centres, community hospitals and care homes.
- Contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of immunisation programmes to all eligible persons for a particular vaccination programme.
- Ensure the delivery of the highest possible standards of quality assured, evidence‑based practice e.g. safe cold chain storage of vaccines, management of vaccine stock levels and disposal of clinical waste.
- Be responsible for all aspects of care for citizens ranging from pre‑vaccination assessment to administration of vaccination.
- Provide guidance and support to the HCSW Immunisers.
- Liaise with the Lead Nurse & Clinical Supervisor.
- Transfer equipment and vaccines to and from sessions, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
The ability to travel to different vaccination sites across Powys Teaching Health Board is essential for this role. Being the smallest Heath Board in Wales means that you won’t get lost in the crowd.
