Teaching Assistant - Specialist Centre

Grade 7 | 30 hours per week | 39 weeks per year

The Governors, working in partnership with Powys County Council, are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our Specialist Centre at Ysgol Gymraeg Dyffryn y Glowyr.

The Specialist Centre supports pupils with significant additional learning needs. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Teacher in Charge of the Specialist Centre and will play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, communication, wellbeing, independence and inclusion. The post will involve supporting pupils within the Specialist Centre, helping pupils to access mainstream learning where appropriate, and contributing to specialist interventions and individual support programmes.

We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, flexible and able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, families and other professionals. Experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs and/or in a specialist provision would be desirable.

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is essential for this post.

Fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance

This post is offered as a fixed-term contract for 12 months in the first instance. Continuation beyond this period will be subject to ongoing funding and the needs of the provision.
