A fast-paced role, playing an important part of the Front Door team for Powys Children's Services, assessing children and families' needs for advice, information and assistance in line with the requirements of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (and other legislation), the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, the CYSUR threshold and guidance documents, and the Local Authorities policy and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Working at pace to swiftly conclude the Front Door element of work on referrals to Children's Services.
  • Enable access to Social Services.
  • Giving advice and/or information, and assessing need to access assistance.
  • Applying criteria to help ensure children and families access the right support at the right time.
  • Working closely with colleagues to gather information, analysing that information to help make decisions.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work on own initiative within a high pressured and fast-paced work environment.
  • An enthusiastic motivated professional worker who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a caseload.
  • Commitment to the principle of confidentiality.
