The Governing Body of Ysgol Robert Owen is pleased to invite applications from highly experienced and skilled senior leaders who are ready to lead the next stage of development of a thriving and distinctive specialist provision. Since moving into our state‑of‑the‑art, purpose‑built special educational needs facility in September 2024, the school has continued to grow and evolve. We now seek an exceptional Headteacher who can build on the strong foundations already in place, further develop this unique provision, and shape the future of specialist education at the heart of Powys.
The Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic and deeply committed Headteacher who will provide strategic and operational leadership for our specialist provision. The successful candidate will lead the continued development of high‑quality teaching and learning, nurture and inspire learners and staff, and strengthen the resilience and confidence of parents and families. A key element of the role will be developing strong partnerships with the local and wider community, as well as working effectively with a range of external agencies.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Place the social, emotional and educational needs of children and young people firmly at the centre of their leadership, with an unwavering commitment to improving outcomes and life chances for all learners.
- Demonstrate a proven record of successful senior leadership within specialist or additional learning needs provision, with the ability to motivate, inspire and develop others.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to further strengthen partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community.
- Possess the vision, drive and enthusiasm to sustain and further enhance our positive, high‑performing and inclusive culture.
