Ysgol Trefonnen is a dual‑stream, voluntary controlled, community‑focused Church in Wales school for children aged 4‑11 years. The school offers both Welsh‑medium and English‑medium groups, as well as a pre‑school Early Years provision, Flying Start settings, and a Food & Fun Summer Holiday Club.

This is a permanent 12.5‑hour per week role within our Early Years setting.

Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day running of the setting, including supervision and support of staff.
  • Planning, delivery and review of high‑quality play‑based experiences and activities.
  • Responsible for the setting’s policies, self‑evaluation, child assessments and record keeping.
  • Maintaining a welcoming, safe and well‑organised learning environment.
  • Acting as a good language role model.
  • Supporting children consistently while recognising and responding to their individual needs.
Qualifications
  • Level 3 qualification recognised by the Care Council for Wales on the current list of accepted qualifications for the Early Years, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Good communication skills in both Welsh and English.
  • Sound understanding of Early Years principles and practice.
Work Pattern

12.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 9:00‑11:30 currently, with potential change to afternoon hours and an additional 1.5 hours of administrative time.

Salary

£28,142 pro‑rata per annum (approximately £14.59 per hour). Salary ranges from Grade 6 Point 11 to Point 14 (£28,142‑£29,540 pro‑rata).
