About the role
We are looking for a friendly hard working and motivated person to work as part of a team in the County Hall kitchen preparing cooking and serving meals. In addition to this we will offer a coffee shop style menu available daily to any Powys staff and councillors, there will also be the expectation to cater for functions / buffets / refreshments and the Royal Welsh Show. Working as part of a small team this role based at County Hall Llandrindod Wells is unique in that it incorporates both school meal catering as well as the freedom to offer a coffee shop style menu and service to the staff in and out of the offices as well as to councillors and other visitors.
About you
- Numeracy and Literacy skills are essential
- Able to record data accurately both manually and electronically
- Oral and written ability in the Welsh language.
- Ability to undertake the physical demands of the position
- Monitor income and manage labour and food costs
What you will do
- Maintain standards of work within the post holder’s responsibility including occasionally out of hours and emergencies in compliance with all relevant policies and procedures
- Ensure that the ordering, storage, preparation, cooking, delivering, serving and payment of meals are carried out to the requirements of the service, for both on site service and all exported services. Collection of all monies, keeping of records (manual and electronic) and banking as per catering and financial procedures
- Ensure stock levels in vending / display units / service areas are maintained but not over stocked. Ensure strict stock rotation to minimise wastage
- Assist the catering management team in menu changes and plan meals in line with the current menu and compliance with nutritional and budget guidelines including any special dietary requirements
- Supervision and welfare of kitchen Staff including allocating of duties, ‘on the job’ training, back to work interviews and staff reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and stock control as instructed
