Through your apprenticeship you will gain a broad knowledge of the work of the Countryside Access and Recreation team.
In year 1, you will support the Countryside Volunteer Co-ordinator in implementing a locality-based approach to the Powys Countryside Volunteer programme.
In year 2, you will assist the Countryside and Outdoor Recreation officers in carrying out management of parks, play areas and open spaces., In year 1, you will work under the direction of the Countryside Volunteer Coordinator and gain confidence to work independently, to support volunteer groups across Powys to carry out practical work tasks without direct officer supervision.
In year 2, you will assist the Countryside and Outdoor Recreation officers with routine and reactive greenspace, tree and play equipment inspections and management, learning about how to manage safety hazards and improve greenspaces for people and nature.
You will be a practical person who is able to communicate well with other people. You will have an aptitude for learning practical skills and keen to gain an understanding of countryside practical tasks. You will be able to explain tasks to others in a clear and engaging way and be willing to learn about working safely in an outdoor setting. You will enjoy being outdoors in all weather and physically able to access remote sites on foot, carrying materials and equipment to support delivery of practical tasks.
You will have a full UK driving licence as you will need to drive work vehicles.
