Main Purpose of Post:

Social Workers are key staff within the social care sector. They help Local Authorities meet their statutory obligations under Child and Family Legislation, Mental Health Law, NHS and Community Care Act, and others. The primary role of a Social Worker within Children’s Services is to assess, risk assess, and provide services to children and their families, aiming to keep children in their families whenever possible. When risk cannot be managed, develop plans to keep children safe and support their full potential. The Social Worker must follow relevant legislation, regulations, and Powys County Council Policies and Procedures.

Experience:

  • Experience in undertaking assessments of needs and identifying risks.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the needs of service users.
  • Knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and best practices relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of social care needs of children and families.

Registrations, Qualifications & Training:

  • Appropriate social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration as a Social Worker with CCW/HCPC.

Safeguarding Requirements:

This role requires an Enhanced DBS Check.
