  • The purpose of the Foreman role is to work with and assist the Site Supervisor at Brecon Bulking Facility where a waste sorting, baling and bulking process is undertaken. To support the Supervisor in preparing, organising and leading a number of multifunctional operatives engaged in all tasks at the Bulking Facility.
  • Be the first Point of Contact for the site in the absence of the Supervisor. Undertake the duties of the Supervisor in their absence.
  • Ensure tasks are being carried out in line with the required health & safety regulations and staff are adhering to and applying an approved risk assessment procedure. Motivate, support and lead colleagues by example.
  • Use of initiative to suggest and implement better work methods, alter the order of work to achieve priorities, apply problem solving and decision making to achieve tasks successfully, to the standards required and in compliance with health & safety regulations
  • Responsible for carrying out site operations which involve operating plant and machinery, including forklift trucks, wheeled loading shovels, sorting and baling equipment as well as the management of site traffic, visiting hauliers and contractors.
  • To undertake a range of skilled tasks and the operation of machinery, tools and equipment in relation to the operational functions of the Bulking Facilities.
  • Working as part of an integrated team at the Bulking Facility to ensure the processing of separated recyclable items is performed efficiently and safely and in accordance with the NRW permit and Health and Safety legislation and guidance.
  • Deliver work specific job chats or tool-box talks to the Bulking Facility operational team. Undertake risk assessments as necessary and ensure that work colleagues within the site understand and follow all safety measures and procedures as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Adhere to and apply the principals of the Council’s Health & Safety policy. Undertake and maintain records of Health and Safety checks in relation to Personal Protective clothing and Equipment. Work in accordance with policies and risk assessments, making decisions based on dynamic assessments of any changing conditions and circumstances on site.

What you will do:

  • Experience with the overseeing, planning and leading on operational work with a small team.
  • Experience and a working knowledge of mechanical equipment and plant machinery
  • Experience of working on a site where plant machinery operates.
  • Experience of and a working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
