POWWR are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to join our UK engineering team and help drive the design, development, and delivery of POWWR’s SaaS energy marketplace platform. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll guide a team of engineers spanning front-end, back-end, and data disciplines, ensuring architectural integrity, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement. You’ll champion DevOps principles — automation, CI/CD, observability, and shared ownership — while mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction across multiple product areas. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and designers to build secure, performant, and maintainable applications using a modern .NET and Angular stack hosted in Azure.

Our engineering culture is rooted in collaboration, continuous improvement, and a passion for solving complex problems through elegant, scalable solutions.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the full stack — from front-end UI to back-end services and data integrations.
  • Guide development decisions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with POWWR’s platform strategy and product vision.
  • Lead the development of high-performance web applications using Angular, .NET, and Azure services.
  • Oversee the design and evolution of robust API layers (GraphQL and REST), ensuring consistency, discoverability, and strong contract boundaries across services.
  • Champion DevOps culture by embedding CI/CD pipelines, automation, and observability into team workflows.
  • Partner with UX and product teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and responsive user experiences.
  • Guide the implementation of scalable front-end architecture patterns such as micro frontends and shared Angular workspaces (NX) to support modular, cross-team development.
  • Drive engineering quality through code reviews, automated testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Contribute to cross-team technical initiatives such as shared libraries, security standards, and design system evolution.
  • Participate in agile planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, security best practices, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR).
  • Contribute to and evolve POWWR’s event-driven architecture, leveraging Kafka and MassTransit to enable scalable, decoupled, and observable services.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical or team-lead capacity.
  • Proven expertise in modern UI development frameworks (Angular preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in .NET Core/C# and related back-end technologies.
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, SQL, Storage).
  • Experience leading engineers within DevOps delivery practices (CI/CD automation with Azure DevOps, observability via Grafana/App Insights).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, and UI testing).
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, modular architecture, and API design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to guide teams and work cross-functionally with product and design.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with event-driven or microservice architectures.
  • Exposure to data-driven or analytics applications (e.g., Power BI, Tableau integration).
  • Knowledge of security-by-design principles and ISO-aligned engineering practices.
  • Experience mentoring distributed or cross-functional teams.

In return, we offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Cashplan & 24/7 GP service
  • Flexible working from home
  • Death in Service cover
  • Blended learning culture with personal development plans
  • Annual company bonus scheme for high contribution
  • Annual company conferences & team events
