We’re looking for experienced and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work alongside a Lead Tutor, providing high-quality, one-to-one support to children and young people with additional needs. Our learners are educated at home, most with an EHCP. Many have autism, ADHD or SEMH needs. You’ll work closely with the Lead Tutor to implement tailored learning plans, reinforce key concepts and help each pupil engage positively with their sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside a Lead Tutor to deliver and reinforce 2:1 learning in the pupil’s home or community setting across core subjects at Primary level.
  • Support the Lead Tutor in adapting activities and resources to meet each learner’s individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families to encourage engagement and confidence.
  • Promote independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour, following agreed strategies and plans.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience working with SEN learners, particularly ASD, ADHD or SEMH – this is essential.
  • Experience as an LSA, teaching assistant, learning mentor or similar in an education or care setting.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, childcare, education or related field). A degree and/or specialist SEN training is an advantage but not essential.
  • A current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one – we’ll guide you through this).
  • Safeguarding training (Level 2 or above) from the last two years, or willingness to complete this.
  • The right to live and work in the UK.

Benefits

  • You’ll have a named personal contact – a real person who knows your profile, understands your strengths and works to match you with the right students and Lead Tutors.
  • You’ll join a community of specialist SEND professionals who face the same challenges you do – with CPD webinars, a practical newsletter and a peer network of educators who get it.
  • Flexible, rewarding work where you can see the impact of your support on a young person’s confidence and progress.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills in SEN and 1:1 support, with guidance from experienced Lead Tutors and the Powertutors team.

If you’re patient, adaptable and passionate about helping young people with additional needs to thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
