We are seeking an experienced Corporate lawyer to join the Practical Law Global team in the UK. Practical Law is a leading online know-how service that provides expert-created, practical content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. It is part of Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s most trusted providers of answers across law, tax, compliance, government and media. Practical Law editors are experienced legal professionals who work at the intersection of law, technology and the development of AI‑driven legal solutions such as CoCounsel.
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of corporate law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will handle a breadth of interesting work.
Major responsibilities/accountabilities:
- Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
- Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
- Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
- Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions.
- Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
- Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.
About You:
- UK‑qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive with substantial post‑qualification experience of corporate law in the UK, in particular cross‑border transactions.
- Experience in M&A (asset and share deals), company and partnership formation and governance, joint ventures and investment matters.
- Some knowledge of corporate finance / capital markets is desirable.
- Strong writing skills and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilise various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
- A curious mindset about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a matrixed environment and proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse teams of people who bring different perspectives and lived experiences to the business.
