Professionals within Legal and Compliance Division (LCD) provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross‐border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. Team Profile

The Institutional Securities Group Compliance Trade Surveillance (ISGCTS) Product Leadership group is responsible for the overall appropriateness, effectiveness and optimization of the surveillance controls deployed across the global Sales & Trading program covering Equity and Fixed Income (including currencies and commodities) businesses. The Product Leadership group works closely with partners across the Firm (including those in LCD, Business Control Units, Operations and Technology).

Position Description

As the Equities Product Owner, the candidate will be responsible for defining, prioritizing and delivering on the trade surveillance product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements. The primary function of the role is to oversee the Institutional Equities Division Market Abuse (IEDMA) Technology Squad, in accordance with an agile methodology, as part of the wider Surveillance Technology Fleet.

The candidate will possess significant trade surveillance subject matter expertise collaborating closely with stakeholders across the organization to identify and prioritize product features, develop user stories and acceptance criteria and oversee the development and delivery of the product. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the product is of high quality, meets user needs and remains relevant in an evolving regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the ISGCTS Program's change management initiatives including the design and implementation of new surveillance controls, optimization of existing controls and build‐out of other strategic in‐house capabilities.
  • Define and prioritize the trade surveillance product roadmap, considering business needs, regulatory requirements, technology drivers and market trends.
  • Leverage market and regulatory experience to drive new surveillance requirements and identify areas where controls can be improved.
  • Perform all IEDMA Squad Product Owner agile functions including, but not limited to, those relating to agile ceremonies and other forums (e.g. incremental business reviews).
  • Develop and maintain a product backlog, including user stories and acceptance criteria, and prioritize backlog items based on business value and user impact.
  • Work closely with the Technology development team to ensure that the product is developed to high quality standards, meets user needs, and is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate user acceptance testing and oversee the release of new product features and functionality.

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 8 years of compliance experience in the financial services industry, preferably developed through roles held in trade surveillance functions.
  • Preference for experience as a product owner or similar technically exposed role in the financial services industry.
  • Detailed working knowledge of financial markets structure and market abuse risks, including cross‐product relationships, in the ISG businesses, particularly Equities (both listed and OTC).
  • Ability to show a broader awareness of Fixed Income, FX and Commodities businesses and relevant market abuse risk would be valuable.
  • Understanding of global regulatory framework for insider dealing, market abuse and other transaction‐based conduct risks.
  • Awareness of front‐to‐back trade booking models, including front‐office order management systems and the importance of data quality in trade surveillance.
  • Ability to work with cross‐functional teams spanning Compliance, Technology, and Business Functions.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and IT systems generally.
  • Self‐starter with strong communication skills and a desire to expand knowledge.
  • Critical thinking and problem‐solving skills.
  • Detail‐oriented and organized.
  • Experience in agile development methodology.
  • Experience with JIRA, Rally, or other Agile project management tools.
