We are seeking a junior lawyer to join the Practical Law Public Sector team in the UK. Practical Law is a leading online know‑how service providing expertly created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. Practical Law editors are experienced legal professionals who sit at the intersection of law, technology, and the development of AI‑driven legal solutions, such as CoCounsel.

About the Role

As a Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your legal knowledge and experience in public sector law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and support the development of Thomson‑Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions.

Major responsibilities

  • Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice, customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
  • Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Assist the development of customer‑focused Thomson‑Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions.
  • Support the development and application of internal AI‑editorial tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
  • Use your legal knowledge to support the wider Thomson‑Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

About You

You are a UK‑qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive and have:

  • At least 2 years’ post‑qualification experience working as a lawyer in a public sector legal environment at a law firm, in‑house or at the bar in the UK.
  • Experience and a sound understanding of information law (freedom of information, environmental information regulations, data protection law).
  • Some knowledge of other areas of public sector law and practice is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong writing skills and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to utilize generative AI tools to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
  • A curious mindset, adaptable and open to change.
  • Experience using AI tools in legal work.
