We are seeking an experienced full-time Network Engineer based in London to join our Electronic Trading Network Engineering team. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for designing high-performance, low-latency network solutions for projects within the EMEA region, whilst also supporting initiatives in other regions i.e. AMER & APAC. As a member of our global network engineering team, you will contribute to both strategic and project design work, helping shape and advance Morgan Stanley's cutting-edge global trading network. The role demands adaptability and a readiness to engage with emerging technologies in the low-latency networking sector. The role will encompass a wide range of network engineering tasks, supporting our global trading network that operates across numerous data centres and co-location sites worldwide.

- The provision of high-quality technical documentation
- Responsibility for the delivery of global network projects, from initial requirements gathering and solution design through to the final hand-over to deployment teams
- Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering teams to advance Morgan Stanley's low-latency trading network
- Work effectively with colleagues across various technology departments and project teams to deliver business aligned solutions
- Proactively update stakeholders and department management with project developments, escalating issues as necessary
- The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Level 4 engineering support for major operational incidents operating in a follow-the-sun model to ensure global coverage
- Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and expertise to fellow team members and business stakeholders
This role would suit an experienced Network professional, most likely from a financial services background with a deep understanding of low-latency trading networks.
Skills Required
- 10+ years of experience working in a similar role within financial services
- CCNP level minimum, CCIE/CCDE level preferred
- Proven track-record of delivering business aligned low-latency network designs
- Ability to act as a technical lead in a global organization

- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Passion for delivering high-quality solutions with a high level of customer satisfaction
- The ability to explain complex technical solutions to a non-technical audience

Technical
- Expert knowledge of IP networking and TCP/IP
- In-depth knowledge of WAN, LAN, and data centre architectures
- Competent in all aspects of Routing & Switching including expert level knowledge of protocols such as spanning-tree, BGP and OSPF
- Familiarity with multicast protocols such as IGMP and PIM
- Experience with bi-directional NAT
- Knowledge of Tap Aggregation, time-stamping and lossless network monitoring
- Experience with Arista & Cisco low-latency switches

- Use of Python and shell scripting to automate repetitive tasks
- Experience using network automation tools and frameworks, including Ansible or similar technologies
- Working knowledge of Forward Networks
- Use of Git for version control and collaborative documentation
