We're seeking someone to join our Threat Hunt Cyber Detection Platform team as a Senior Platform Engineer in Cyber Data Risk & Resilience division. Threat Hunt’s mission is to seek out attacks against the Morgan Stanley network, to engineer detection strategies, and to reduce risk to Morgan Stanley assets. In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities.

This is a Senior Platform Engineer position at Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for providing specialist cyber expertise and creating solutions that protect the organization's systems and networks against actual and potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Serving as a DevSecOps point of contact for internal and external clients
  • Alerting and On-Call, monitor alerts on critical services and follow runbooks for troubleshooting and escalation to SMEs
  • Onboarding internal and external users to the Cyber Data Platform
  • Working with internal SMEs on both integrating new applications into MFA and troubleshooting core services
  • Closely collaborating with other MS teams via ServiceNow and other channels to install hardware, request maintenance, troubleshoot network connectivity
  • Advising on and implement strategic solutions within the threat hunt technology stack
  • Troubleshooting issues on the hardware level, local network configuration, switch level, firewall or beyond

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • At least 6 years’ platform engineering experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Bachelor or higher degree in a STEM field
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Experience of software development experience using Python, K8s, Elastic, NiFi and Kibana
  • Confirmed ability to automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools
  • Good understanding of DevOps principles and a passion for building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to design and implement monitoring and alerting systems to identify and resolve issues
  • Proficient in using Git for version control, branching strategies and code reviews
  • Deep understanding of server hardware, Linux operating system (Red hat/CentOS preferred) and enterprise networking
  • Experience troubleshooting issues on the hardware level, local network configuration, switch level, firewall or beyond
  • Strong communicator who can participate in a team-oriented, fast-paced Agile environment and desires to continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a team as individual contributor
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes) and orchestration tools
  • Ability to work with a broad variety of technologies like Ansible, infrastructure as code solutions, OS configuration & deployment tooling
  • Experience with patching and updating infrastructure from system BIOS, firmware, drivers, kernels to operating system, applications, databases etc.
  • An understanding of cyber analytic techniques is desirable
