The Rework Technician Role

The primary role of the Rework Technician is to carry out precision rework and repair of complex PCBA products to IPC standards. You will be part of a skilled team responsible for ensuring product quality and conformance through detailed inspection, fault diagnosis, and component-level rework. This includes working closely with production engineers to resolve issues and improve processes.

Responsibilities of the Rework Technician

  • Perform component-level rework and repair of SMT and through-hole assemblies
  • Validate and rework assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 standards
  • Use soldering tools, hot air rework stations, and microscopes for precision work
  • Document faults, rework actions, and process indicators
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and BOMs
  • Collaborate with engineers to support first-off and batch build quality
  • Use internal systems for time booking and production note recording

Experience of the Rework Technician

  • Essential: Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for fine rework tasks
  • Essential: Understanding of IPC standards; current or previous certification preferred
  • Desirable: Experience with X-Ray inspection equipment
  • Desirable: Familiarity with AOI systems and programming
  • Desirable: Experience in fault finding and root cause analysis
