Do you know your Race Across The World from your RuPaul’s Drag Race? Your Slow Horses from your Only Fools And Horses? TV Choice, the country’s biggest selling magazine, and its sister publication Total TV Guide are seeking a Content Creator (TV) to join its talented team. Working primarily for both titles, you’ll be interviewing TV personalities (both in person and remotely) and turning their answers into dazzling, engaging copy for our print editions and our online platforms. Reporting to the Content Editor (TV), the successful candidate will possess a love for all things television and an encyclopaedic knowledge of the subject, as well as a passion for learning and developing their skills as a writer.
The focus of the role: You’ll also be expected to provide TV content for Bauer’s wider magazine portfolio – Heat, Closer, Bella and Yours – and your duties will also include helping out at the annual TV Choice Awards. You’ll be proactive in seeking feedback and support to continually develop your knowledge, skills and confidence. You’ll also take advantage of development opportunities to ensure continuous improvement to the quality and efficiency of your content creation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing high quality and engaging TV features (ranging from 80-word pick-of-the-day items to 800 word double page spreads) to tight deadlines.
- Interviewing TV talent face to face or via telephone or Zoom, asking the right questions and crafting their responses into dazzling, entertaining copy.
- When required, attending TV events such as seasonal launches and press junkets.
- Working at the annual TV Choice Awards where the writing team are all assigned tasks for the evening.
- Leading development of a new iteration of the TV Choice website, and our weekly newsletter, as part of our developing digital strategy.
What you’ll bring:
- A love of all things TV from reality series such as Strictly Come Dancing and Traitors to soap operas like Coronation Street and EastEnders, an appreciation of quality dramas such as Adolescence, as well lifestyle shows like Interior Design Masters.
- A knowledge of traditional linear channels such as BBC1 and ITV1 as well as streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney + Apple TV.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An understanding of SEO.
- Good time management skills and flexibility on your working schedule.
- A willingness to attend out of hours events when required.
- A collaborative mindset, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Previous experience of magazine writing desirable.
