Our client is an established and well-respected UK engineering manufacturing company that is currently recruiting for a Global Business Development Manager. The successful candidate will identify new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships alongside strategic planning and execution, to negotiate and win business with new customers, in new and existing markets that increases revenue and profitability for our client’s company, fostering sustainable competitive global advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a global business development strategy aligned with company goals.
- Identify and prioritise new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and expansion initiatives.
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, clients, and investors.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, finance, and operations teams to support successful market entry and growth.
- Analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to inform business strategy.
- Drive deal negotiation and closure, from early-stage discussions to final contracts.
- Work with stakeholders to overcome challenges and deliver company goals.
- Be an active participant in the customer journey, listening and responding to customer feedback to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Establish, build and nurture relationships with customers through networking, attending industry events, conferences and trade shows & feeding back to the board on any risks, issues, success and mitigation strategies.
- Competent financial management to include revenue forecasting and budgeting.
- Provide regular, detailed and accurate progress reports and updates to the Board and business areas.
- Provide regular and accurate forecasting of revenue for new opportunities and financial projections for business development efforts, ensuring effective resource planning as required.
Skills & Experience
- Proven technical sales experience gained in heavy equipment and/or transport industry.
- Be technically minded, ideally with a solid engineering background and competency.
- Experience selling into the production or manufacturing industry would be beneficial.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen; comfortable with data-driven decision-making.
- A solid commercial understanding and proven track record of driving direct and indirect international/global sales growth.
- Experienced working across cultures and geographies; multilingual skills are a plus.
- Willingness to travel worldwide as needed (approx. 50% expectation).
- Lead a core function with direct impact on the company’s strategic trajectory.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working home-based with flexibility to undertake approx. 50% - 60% travel, whilst attending UK Head Office and global client meetings. All successful candidates will be contacted within 5 days of application for the position.
