Our client is an established UK manufacturer specialising in the automotive sector. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their field-based engineering team, recruiting a Field Engineer to install, service, and support customers across multiple sites. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where engineers manage their own schedules, work independently or within small regional teams, and deliver high-quality installations, servicing, and fault-finding at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, inspect, fault-find, and repair vehicle systems in line with technical and design requirements.
- Attend customer depots and sites, including occasional emergency callouts as part of a rota.
- Complete job documentation, system updates, photographic records, and basic site surveys accurately.
- Provide technical support and system advice to customers and colleagues while delivering a professional, customer-focused service.
- Maintain van stock, tools, and equipment, and work safely at all times in line with H&S procedures and risk assessments.
Skills & Experience
- Practical mechanical or electrical background, such as vehicle/HGV/plant mechanic or fitter, auto electrician, or maintenance engineer.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability with confidence working independently in a field-based role.
- Good communication skills and a professional, customer-facing approach.
- Field-based role working on customer sites throughout the UK requiring a Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake overnight stays.
Salary & Benefits
- Basic Salary Circa Β£35,000 - Β£40,000 with paid overtime available.
- Full-time, permanent, 45 hour standard contract with door-to-door travel time.
- Excellent Benefits including 10% Pension, 25 days holiday plus statutory, fully equipped modern company vehicle (business use only) and more.
- Flexibility to work away from home 6-8 nights per month.
- Additional overnight allowances with accommodation and meal expenses provided.
- Full product and onsite training provided for the successful candidate.
