About the Role

Reporting to the Sales Director, as the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering new business sales in order to increase the profitability of our company. You will also be responsible for managing some of our Key Accounts and ensuring continual improvement, increased profitability and the development of long-term strategic relationships with these clients. Your performance will be measured against the targets that are set for you on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Responsibilities

  • To proactively win profitable new business and to achieve and exceed quarterly/annual new business targets.
  • Manage a sales territory and or prospect pipeline for new business opportunities.
  • Report site visit activity and cold calls on to the Powerday Sales Pad.
  • To produce, present weekly, monthly, and quarterly personal performance to the Senior Business Development Managers and/or Sales Director when required.
  • To participate and contribute at sales meetings.
  • To liaise regularly with our Transport, Customer Service teams, to assist Finance with credit control queries and to ensure we maintain the highest levels of service in line with our customers’ expectations.
  • To explore, identify and manage new business tendering opportunities in order to secure and grow the business.
  • To manage your allocated Key Accounts and ensure the relevant Account Management Plans are written and consistently updated.
  • To build and always maintain robust working relationships via planned account review meetings whilst balancing the customers’ requirements and the best interests of Powerday.
  • To conduct yourself with the professional standards expected with customers and colleagues.
  • To carry out any other reasonable job-related tasks/management requests.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office and Weighsoft skills.
  • Essential to have at least five years’ experience of managing key accounts.
  • Ideally have previous exposure to the Waste Management and Recycling industry.

  • Be self-motivated with an analytical mind and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ambitious dynamic go getter with a real can-do attitude.
  • Confident communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Good team player as you will be required to work with a range of personnel internally and externally.
  • Work well under pressure and to set timelines in a professional manner.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the Waste Management and Recycling industry is a plus.
