The Role

We are looking for an ambitious Road Freight Manager to take ownership of and grow our road freight department. This is a leadership and growth role, not a purely operational one.

You will have the freedom to implement your own ideas, improve and oversee day-to-day operations, strengthen commercial performance, and scale the department. As the business and road freight team grows, there is a clear opportunity to progress into Head of Road Freight / Head of Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Full ownership of the road freight department (FTL / LTL / groupage)
• Improve, structure, and oversee operational processes and performance
• Build and manage a strong European carrier and partner network
• Pricing, quoting, and margin control with a clear commercial focus
• Key client retention and relationship management
• Work closely with sales to support and retain strategic accounts
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and service quality
• Recruit, train, and manage team members as volumes grow
• Set KPIs and take responsibility for operational and commercial results

What We\’re Looking For

• Proven experience in European road freight
• Strong operational understanding combined with commercial awareness
• Experience managing key clients and retaining long-term accounts
• Ambition to grow into a senior leadership / Head of Department role
• Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable building systems and teams
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership
• Clear communication and structured thinking

What We Offer

• Salary range: £42,000 – £48,000 per annum
