United Infrastructure Transmission & Distribution are recruiting for a Site Engineer to join an Overhead Lines Project (OHL) in Inverness, Scotland. You will focus on supporting the team in the enabling works phase of the overhead lines sites prior to tower assembly and erection.
As a Civils Site Engineer, you will oversee daily health & safety protocols for staff and subcontractors, report incidents, manage project resources, ensure compliance with safety standards, support the Construction and Project Managers with documentation and reporting, and coordinate effectively with all stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing team at United Infrastructure T&D, this role is site-based on a long-term project in Inverness supporting our client SSE.
The Role
Reporting to the OHL Construction Manager, you will oversee the Enabling Works and Access Roads management team, coordination of foremen and sub-contractors while liaising with clients and third parties, and manage the setting People to Work process, including onboarding and site inductions with our program to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL). You will be contributing to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government's pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero.
This role is perfect for someone looking for a sideways move or their next step as a Site Engineer. We welcome applications from both established site engineers and first appointment site engineers from a linesman background within transmission and distribution, construction or utilities.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates
Typical responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day Health & Safety for staff and subcontractors.
- Report Safety incidents and “near misses” internally and externally.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage Foremen and subcontractors; assist the Construction Manager in checking staff competencies and training.
- Control costs and monitor financial status of your project area where applicable.
- Produce method statements, work instructions, and risk assessments.
- Provide the Construction and Project Manager’s with information for monthly reports and project change control.
- Plan and coordinate resources (plant, materials, labour).
- Determine material requirements and liaise with Procurement.
- Liaise with clients, third parties, and stakeholders.
- Collect and collate QA documentation for final records.
- Support the Site Construction Manager in developing target costs.
- Ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 9001:2000, and ISO 14001:2004 standards.
