Power On, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for an Apprentice - Electricity Operations who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
Purpose of this role
To receive training in the Operations of Electricity Networks, whilst acquiring a formal qualification relevant to the work that GTC undertakes. To work within various teams across the Electricity Operations department, gaining knowledge from experienced colleagues with the aim to be appointed to a position within the Electricity Operations team upon completion of the apprenticeship.
Your Key Responsibilities
- To provide efficient updates to GTC End user customers in relation to faults to reduce complaints and queries received into the Electricity Department.
- To complete summary of faults and other operational issues on GTC networks and calculate customer minutes off-supply to evaluate the efficiency of our response teams and provide GTC End user customers with guaranteed standard payments where applicable.
- Processing invoices and recovering costs caused by third parties on GTC networks.
- Liaise with Developers regarding installations and cable faults to ensure works are carried out safely and to GTC’s standards.
- Assist with communicating with representatives of other Distribution Network Operators undertaking connection and fault works, to ensure sufficient notification and updates are given to GTC End user customers.
- To assist in communication with Distribution Network Operators and on-site engineers to ensure sufficient notification and updates are given for outages to GTC end user customers.
- To assess and update all documentation required for operational work up to 33kVA and ensure it is completed correctly, to enable optimal efficiency for engineers on site.
- To communicate with both customers and operatives to ensure efficient updates are provided regarding outages to GTC end user customers, to reduce queries coming into the electricity department.
- Manage all electrical work requiring operational control of GTC’s network.
- An opportunity to undertake Standby Duties.
Qualifications
Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 (or above) including English, Maths and Science. Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent) or A-Levels in Maths and/or Science related subject.
Experience/Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including excellent telephone manner.
- Strong attention to detail for keeping accurate records and processing invoices.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and as part of a team.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.
Conditions of Employment
- You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to handling and processing sensitive customer data.
- You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
- You will hold a driving licence or be in the process of obtaining one.
