About the Role

The Assistant Accountant position sits within the Power NI Customer Solutions Business unit and reports to an Accountant within the Financial Reporting & Control Team (within the Power NI Finance Team). This role sits within a fast paced, challenging environment constantly open to change. The ideal candidate will have strong basic accounts skills. The individual should be motivated and have a continuous improvement approach to their role.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of month-end journals including operating costs, capex, accruals, prepayments, reallocations.
  • Completion of a wide range of P&L and BS reconciliations, including variance analysis.
  • Assistance in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for Senior Management.
  • Extraction and analysis of data from our billing system.
  • Supporting the monthly and annual forecasting processes.
  • Cash flow analysis & forecasting.
  • Assist in Accounts Payable processes, including invoice and purchase order approvals.
  • Production of cost centre reports & variance analysis.
  • Assist in internal & external audits.
  • Ad-hoc analysis as required.

About You

What you'll need:

  • At least 2 years' proven recent experience of working in a similar role.
  • Experience of using an accounting package in previous roles.
  • Demonstrable experience in the proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven time management and communication skills.

  • Accounting Technician qualification and/or partial professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Experience using SAP and Workday.
  • Experience working in a similar role in the Energy or Utility industry.
