About the Role
The Assistant Accountant position sits within the Power NI Customer Solutions Business unit and reports to an Accountant within the Financial Reporting & Control Team (within the Power NI Finance Team). This role sits within a fast paced, challenging environment constantly open to change. The ideal candidate will have strong basic accounts skills and should be motivated with a continuous improvement approach to their role.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of month-end journals including operating costs, capex, accruals, prepayments, reallocations.
- Completion of a wide range of P&L and BS reconciliations, including variance analysis.
- Assistance in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for Senior Management.
- Extraction and analysis of data from our billing system.
- Supporting the monthly and annual forecasting processes.
- Cash flow analysis & forecasting.
- Assist in Accounts Payable processes, including invoice and purchase order approvals.
- Production of cost centre reports & variance analysis.
- Assist in internal & external audits.
- Ad-hoc analysis as required.
About You
What you’ll need:
- At least 2 years' proven recent experience of working in a similar role.
- Experience of using an accounting package in previous roles.
- Demonstrable experience in the proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proven time management and communication skills.

- Accounting Technician qualification and/or partial professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Experience using SAP and Workday.
- Experience working in a similar role in the Energy or Utility industry.
