This role offers a great opportunity for an experienced Service Engineer. You will play a key role in supporting the Service Department by performing maintenance and repairs on customer-owned diesel generators and our rental fleet. This position requires a high degree of customer interaction and collaboration with various departments, so a strong customer service focus is essential. Candidates should be located within reasonable commuting distance of the M62 corridor, ideally around Leeds, Manchester, or Sheffield.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing and maintenance of diesel generators for both customer-owned and rental equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on customer and rental generators, ensuring quick resolution of any issues.
- Conduct site surveys as requested to assess service needs and maintenance requirements.
- Participate in the companyβs on-call rota system to provide timely assistance during off-hours.
- Follow the Company Health & Safety Policy, maintaining clean and orderly workspaces, including company vehicles.
- Comply with all aspects of the company ISO standards ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 procedures.
- Proactively contribute to our continuous improvement programme.
Qualifications
- A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC) or completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience in servicing and repairing generator sets, particularly FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar (Essential).
- Full driving licence required.
- ECS/CSCS or CCNSG competency card preferred but not essential (training can be provided if necessary).
Skills
- Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and meet customer requirements efficiently and effectively.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a field service role (advantageous).

- Days Time Rate Monday to Friday 12am to 4am Double Time.
- Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm Standard Time.
