This role offers a great opportunity for an experienced Service Engineer to be serving the M4 corridor. You will play a key role in supporting the Service Department by performing maintenance and repairs on customer-owned diesel generators and our rental fleet. This position requires a high degree of customer interaction and collaboration with various departments, so a strong customer service focus is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance of diesel generators for both customer-owned and rental equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on customer and rental generators, ensuring quick resolution of any issues.
  • Conduct site surveys as requested to assess service needs and maintenance requirements.
  • Participate in the company’s on-call rota system to provide timely assistance during off-hours.
  • Follow the Company Health & Safety Policy, maintaining clean and orderly workspaces, including company vehicles.
  • Comply with all aspects of the company ISO standards ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 procedures.
  • Proactively contribute to our continuous improvement programme.

Skills & Experience

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC).
  • Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in servicing and repairing generator sets, particularly FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar (Essential).
  • Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Prior experience working in a field service role (advantageous).
  • Full driving licence required.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and meet customer requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • ECS/CSCS or CCNSG competency card preferred but not essential (training can be provided if necessary).

  • Monday to Friday 12am to 4am: Double Time.

  • Saturdays 4am to Midnight: Time and Half.
  • Sundays & Bank Holidays: All hours Double Time.
