The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Contractor & Logistics Coordinator to support rail construction activities across multiple compounds in Scotland. This role will ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, Network Rail standards, and Principal Contractor (PC) duties, while coordinating logistics and compound operations to support safe and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Principal Contractor Duties
- Act as day-to-day representative of the Principal Contractor across compounds and work sites
- Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Network Rail Principal Contractor Licence, and Construction Phase Plans
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and PC compliance checks
- Manage site access/egress and plant/equipment control
- Ensure subcontractors comply with PC arrangements and site rules
- Support incident and near-miss investigations
- Coordinate deliveries, collections, and material movements
- Optimise compound layouts for safe and efficient operations
- Oversee safe loading/unloading and material storage
- Maintain plant, tool and equipment registers
- Coordinate traffic management arrangements
- Ensure compliant waste management and environmental controls
- Oversee welfare standards, housekeeping, maintenance and security
- Support compound mobilisation and demobilisation
- Manage temporary works, utilities, fencing and lighting compliance
- Ensure all site signage and safety information is current and compliant
Essential Requirements
- Experience in rail construction (Network Rail environment preferred)
- Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and Principal Contractor duties
- Proven logistics coordination experience within construction/infrastructure
- Ability to manage multiple compounds and work fronts
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)

- Knowledge of Network Rail standards
- Temporary Works awareness
- Experience within OLE, P&D, Civils or Rail Systems
- First Aid at Work
- Environmental awareness training
