Role Description
Our Urban Highways Design team has an immediate requirement for a Design Engineer to assist in the delivery of Urban Highways and Development Infrastructure projects to our clients, which include the likes of Transport for London, Birmingham City Council, Edinburgh City Council, Kent County Council, London boroughs and other local authorities, HS2 and a number of private developer, architect and contractor clients.

- Accountabilities
- Engineering design and design management as part of a project team.
- Commercial, programme and quality management as part of a project team, with opportunities for increased ownership and responsibility on smaller projects.
- Mentoring graduate engineers, technicians and apprentices to assist with the development of skills within the team.
- Managing work undertaken through Global Excellence Centres in India.
- Contributing to business development through assisting with tenders, proposals and client presentation (internal and external clients).
Qualifications and Experience
- Career driven to assist with succession planning. The candidate would be a well-developed Engineer showing good opportunities for a move to Senior Engineer.
- Progressing towards CEng / IEng status.
- Able to contribute to a portfolio of projects at varying stages of development and with different clients.
- CAD and 3D modelling skills in a BIM environment will be a real advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Consultative thinker.
- Proven ability to plan your own time and prioritize your delivery.
- Focus on driving sustainable solutions.
- Smart presentation.
- Able to work unsupervised, yet fit well into a team.
- Digital orientation to assist with our digital transformation initiatives.
- Good coaching and staff supervision skills.
- Able to deal with people at all levels and confident in front of clients.
- Evidence of a developing commercial awareness to assist with profitable delivery of projects.
- Can clearly demonstrate sound experience of urban highway and/or development infrastructure design and design management.
- Can demonstrate sound experience of working for local authorities and/or developers and show an understanding of their objectives and key performance indicators.
- Flexibility to work part-time in other locations to suit projects.
