Role description: We are seeking a motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic UK Structural team within our Resilience Global Business Area. The projects our team are involved in cover full design across the water & energy sector amongst others which can range from small technical challenges to large/complex multidisciplinary projects with a focus on sustainable design. Role accountabilities: You will own the responsibility on small to medium structural projects and sections of larger schemes to carry out the following for Arcadis:

  • Do and supervise project structural analysis, design and digital modelling
  • Do and supervise the preparation of design models, calculations and reports
  • Compliance with company procedures to produce safe, sustainable, innovative technical work guided by your Principal Engineers and Structures team Directors
  • To learn quickly from your technical peers and brief/lead small structural teams
  • Work and communicate proactively within project teams and with other design discipline peers (e.g. geotech, hydraulic, M&E, environment etc) to positively influence success of the structural inputs and project as a whole
  • Deliver your project work with and through Arcadis Global Design Centres
  • For the structural demands of a project input to bidding, assessment and control of budget, timescales and risk evaluation (reputational, commercial and CDM)
  • Maximise the opportunities within Arcadis to develop your career

Qualifications & Experience: What you will require (and preferably have) to successfully carry out your role with Arcadis will be:

  • An honours degree and Chartered/Incorporated (or ready for Professional review in 2026) status with ICE or IStructE
  • Structural analysis and design skills in several materials to Eurocodes – particularly concrete and steel sufficient to carry out more involved work yourself or manage and check more straightforward work of others
  • Experience with ROBOT, TEDDS, Masterseries or similar structural software
  • Experience (and capability) with 3D digital software (REVIT, Navisworks or similar)
  • Design experience of civil engineering structures, buildings and the soil/structure interface
  • Experience in design teams and managing inputs from technicians and juniors in small teams
  • An enthusiasm for and track record of broad and innovative design experience, using new technologies and with a focus on reduced embedded eCO2
  • Experience of carrying out independent structural inspections and assessments on site and producing supporting reports
