As a senior Engineering Rail Systems leader, you will guide talented multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality and sustainable solutions for our clients and communities. Role Accountabilities

  • Lead Engineering Rail Systems design teams across Rail North, creating a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative team environment.
  • Manage discipline capability and capacity to meet project demand, business targets and future pipeline needs.
  • Coordinate the deployment of design resources across projects, pursuits and major strategic opportunities.
  • Ensure design delivery meets client requirements, programme commitments, quality expectations and cost targets.
  • Support strong technical and commercial performance across the project portfolio, including margin, risk and delivery outcomes.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships, contributing to excellent client experience and long-term growth.
  • Lead or support business development and work winning activities across regional and strategic opportunities.
  • Embed sustainability and digital priorities into design delivery and technical solutions.
  • Champion safety, people development and continuous improvement across teams and projects.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Rail, Mobility and wider Arcadis teams to achieve shared business goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong experience leading engineering or design teams within rail systems or a related infrastructure environment.
  • Broad technical knowledge across relevant rail systems disciplines.
  • Proven ability to manage team performance, develop people and lead in a matrix organisation.
  • Experience delivering successful outcomes across project delivery, client engagement and work winning.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to balance technical excellence and business performance.
  • Experience building trusted client relationships and supporting strategic growth opportunities.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, compliance requirements and quality expectations.
  • A track record of solving technical and operational challenges in complex project environments.
  • Commitment to sustainability, digital innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Site experience is preferred.
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
