Role description:
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious Project Cost Consultant to join our Property team in the Glasgow or Edinburgh office, delivering significant property schemes throughout Scotland and the North of England. Ideally, you will be recently RICS qualified or on your route to do so.
Our team is involved in delivering some of the region\’s largest and most exciting building projects in the residential, commercial office, and sports and leisure sectors, ranging from £20m to over £1bn in value. We have a fantastic pipeline, and these projects will allow you to grow as an individual and provide opportunities to work on leading projects with industry-leading clients in the region.
Working with an established and highly successful team, your role will involve providing competent and professional quantity surveying support on large schemes, with opportunities to lead your own projects. You will work closely with Senior Partners and Directors and gain great exposure to future development opportunities.
This role offers flexible working, with an encouraged pattern of both office and home working to facilitate collaboration.
Role accountabilities:
- Assisting on feasibility studies
- Estimating and cost planning, including producing and presenting final cost plans
- Tendering and procuring construction works, including providing procurement advice to clients
- Managing post-contract cost variances and change control processes
- Carrying out cost checks and valuations on large projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Producing monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to clients
- Contributing to value engineering
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
- Interfacing with clients and other consultants at all project stages
- Having strong knowledge of JCT Contracts
Qualifications & Experience:
- RICS accredited surveyor or nearing final assessment
- Commercial experience on major building projects (£1m-£10m+ in value)
- Self-management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and stakeholder management
- Ability to lead projects from inception to completion in collaboration with project leads
