This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the post-contract commercial management of large-scale capital works, supporting delivery across major building and campus infrastructure packages. The role will focus on commercial activities including GMP development, contract administration, change control, valuations, forecasting and final accounts. You will work as part of an integrated site-based commercial team and collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, client representatives and internal project disciplines.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Commercial Management
    • Support the Commercial Director in the commercial management of major capital work packages from procurement through to final account.
    • Support, and where agreed lead, the development, negotiation and conversion of GMP packages into agreed contract sums.
    • Support the commercial management of key packages including MEP, enabling works, civils, piling, structures, steel, architectural and CSA.
    • Contribute to the agreement and closure of final accounts with contractors and supply chain partners.
  • Contract Administration and Controls
    • Support the administration of contracts, including FIDIC-based contract processes and commercial governance.
    • Prepare and review valuations, payment recommendations and change control.
    • Input into cost reports, forecasts, CVRs and executive dashboards.
    • Review tender analysis and recommendation reports prepared by the main contractor.
    • Work within established financial systems and budgets to monitor cost performance and manage variances.
  • Risk and Reporting
    • Support the management of commercial risks, opportunities and contingency.
    • Analyse commercial data and project documentation to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
    • Provide clear recommendations to support effective decision-making.
    • Escalate key risks or issues to senior stakeholders where required.
  • Collaboration and Client Focus
    • Work collaboratively with project teams including design, PMO, construction, procurement and commissioning.
    • Build strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, client stakeholders and the wider Arcadis team.
    • Contribute to a high-performing team culture focused on delivery, collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Share knowledge and support service innovation and best practice in cost and commercial management.
  • Team Contribution
    • Support and guide more junior team members on technical and programme-related matters.
    • Contribute positively to team development through coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Experience in cost and commercial management on complex construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong post-contract experience, including change control, valuations, forecasting and final accounts.
  • Experience supporting commercial delivery across major work packages, ideally within large, technically complex projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants and client stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide commercial insight.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on data centre, industrial, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing or similarly complex projects.
  • Familiarity with GMP procurement/commercial arrangements.
  • Experience of FIDIC contract administration.
  • Experience working in a site-based project environment.

Qualifications

We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds. You should be able to demonstrate relevant capability through one or more of the following:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification/experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction management or a related discipline.

In this role, you will:

  • Help drive robust commercial management across a major capital programme.
