Role Accountabilities
We are seeking an entry‑level geo‑environmental consultant to support the UK‑wide team on land contamination and ground condition assessments, with a preference for those who have worked on Defence sector or former Defence facility projects.
- Desk studies and preliminary risk assessments.
- Field work across the UK, including site management of ground investigations and health & safety documentation.
- Collection of site characterisation data – soil & groundwater sampling, soil logging to British Standards, and suitable in‑situ field testing.
- Management of environmental sample collection paperwork and scheduling for laboratory analysis.
- Compilation of site data into factual and interpretive reports, including conceptual site models and generic risk assessments.
- Collaboration with other sectors and disciplines to ensure overall project integrity.
- Production of project outputs such as documentation, reports, and specifications that meet or exceed client expectations, Arcadis requirements, and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
- Development of effective working relationships with Project Managers, clients, and teammates, and ensuring clear communication of progress, changes and issue resolution.
- Constant learning of Arcadis services, client business and industry sector to enhance personal and company credibility.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc (or higher) in Geology, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science or a related discipline, or equivalent.
- Entry‑level experience in geo‑environmental projects, such as contamination or geotechnical work.
- Scoping and Phase 1 & 2 environmental reporting experience.
- Capacity to work independently, in a local office‑based team and within larger multidisciplinary teams to deliver on tight deadlines and budgets.
- Experience of working on site and supervising contractors (e. g. drillers).
- Proficient report writing for Environmental Phase 1 & 2.
- Awareness of potential risks associated with geo‑environmental investigations (health & safety, budgetary, technical).
- Working toward professional membership and chartership.
- Existing Security Clearance (SC) preferred.
- Experience on Defence sector projects preferred.
