Arcadis seeks a Senior Consultant for its Intelligent Buildings team to lead client-facing strategy development and programme delivery for smart building projects, combining strategic consultancy, commercial rigor and practical programme management to translate client vision into business‑value outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategy development for clients’ Intelligent Building ambitions, including stakeholder mapping, maturity assessments, target operating models and implementation roadmaps.
- Develop robust business cases and investment appraisals that quantify benefits such as operational efficiency, occupant experience, carbon and energy reduction, and revenue opportunities.
- Define personas, user journeys and prioritised use cases that link building data and technologies to tangible user and operational outcomes.
- Design and implement governance, commercial and delivery frameworks (steering groups, change controls, scope management, procurement routes) to de‑risk delivery and enable predictable outcomes.
- Act as Project Manager for multi‑disciplinary Intelligent Building projects, coordinating with architects, MEP, IT/OT, cybersecurity, vendors and contractors to meet scope, budget and programme requirements.
- Translate complex technical inputs into commercial and operational implications for non‑technical stakeholders, demonstrating strong communication skills and ensuring clear decision‑making points and acceptance criteria.
- Advise clients on relevant smart building accreditations and support achievement of levels such as SmartScore, WiredScore or NABERS.
- Support procurement and vendor selection by developing evaluation criteria, facilitating commercial negotiations and assessing supplier delivery capability against strategic objectives.
- Support business development and sales activities: prepare proposals, present strategic approaches to clients, and help convert opportunities into projects.
- Champion Intelligent Buildings within internal stakeholders and Account Leaders to support knowledge share, create opportunities for cross‑selling and best practice.
- Play an active role in the Arcadis Intelligent Buildings Community of Practice and development of Thought Leadership Material.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, building capability in strategic advisory, programme management and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain awareness of market trends, relevant standards, certification schemes and emerging technologies to inform client strategy and ensure Arcadis’ proposition remains competitive.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, preferably with membership of a professional body such as RICS, APM, IMechE, IET, ICE, or CIBSE.
- Demonstrable experience in programme or project management on digital or smart building initiatives, preferably across strategy, business case development and delivery phases.
- Proven track record developing business cases, prioritised use cases and roadmaps for digital/IoT enabled building solutions.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience with procurement, supplier evaluation and contract structures for technology delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior client sponsors and running governance forums.
- Familiarity with Intelligent Building technologies and architecture (BMS, EMS, BOS, IoT platforms, analytics, OT/IT convergence) sufficient to interrogate technical proposals and align them to strategic objectives.
- Experience delivering change programmes, including user adoption and benefits realisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; adept at simplifying complex topics for executive audiences.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP) or experience of Agile delivery frameworks is advantageous.
- Experience in related accreditations such as SmartScore, WiredScore, WELL, LEED, NABERS.
