Role description

Arcadis is looking for an experienced technical Architect to support the delivery of major projects and manage a range of smaller projects within our transit team.

The role involves coordinating design and construction phases of varying sizes, delivering high‑quality architectural solutions, leading elements of large and small projects independently, managing junior and technician team members, and providing support and mentorship to the Studio management team.

  • Role accountabilities
  • Support and lead on projects with responsibility for internal program and budget management, effective time and resource management for your team.
  • Work in all aspects of projects: design development, working drawings, contract administration, and on‑site services, providing support to transit operator and contractor clients and thriving in a construction environment.
  • Manage multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with other disciplines.
  • Lead elements of large / complex projects or small projects independently, working with or without a team.
  • Maintain the project documentation, drawings and specifications, and review submittals; capture and promote best practice and design knowledge within the Studio.
  • Process change control requests during construction and address RFIs and support in the preparation of proposals, submissions and presentations.
  • Interface with statutory authorities during the design and construction phases of the project.
  • Understand and adhere to procedures including quality management and environmental management systems and health & safety.
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues and contribute to technical design reviews across projects in the studio.

Qualifications & Experience

  • RIBA Part 3 qualified and ARB registered, minimum 10 years qualification.
  • Background across complex UK projects, working with contractors at detailed design and construction stages.
  • Experience working on larger projects as part of a team and day‑to‑day leadership for smaller projects.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, Bentley Microstation and Aecosim/BIM experience as industry standard.
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, design standards and best practice including Network Rail and London Underground/Tf L standards and guidance.
  • Working knowledge of CDM and building regulations Principal Designer responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, communication and relationship‑management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
