Role description:

Play a key role delivering tech sector mega-projects. We are looking for an experienced Project Director to join our rapidly growing team. You will play a key role leading the delivery of one of our biggest data centre construction projects in the Nordics. The successful candidate will be based either 100% in country, or there will be significant international travel to the Nordics (11/3 rotation).

Role accountabilities:

  • You’ll be responsible for managing all stages of hyperscale data centre construction projects, taking projects through pre-construction, construction, and close out/fit-up.
  • Day-to-day this includes but is not limited to:
    • Pre-construction
      • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to ensure delivery of the project
      • Working with the client and general contractor to create and establish the Master Project Schedule and Master Project Budget
      • Procuring and managing the delivery of contractor designed elements for inclusion into the final IFC
      • Carry out constructability reviews during design phase
      • Support the AE in the application of permits for the project
      • Managing Contractor pre-qualification, bid solicitation, bid analysis and recommendations
      • Supporting contract negotiations
      • Assisting the client and the Client’s team in identifying, scoping, buying-out and scheduling of all Owner-direct vendors and consultants
      • Manage the process for funding requests to facilitate the construction process
      • Manage the development of the IMS
    • Construction
      • Manage and implement a robust HSE culture across the project
      • Managing the General Contractors and other directly contracted vendors on the ground
      • Manage the IMS for successful on time delivery
      • Manage the project control functions across the project
      • Manage the QCx teams for successful delivery through the construction phase
      • Provide contractual support to the client
      • Ensure the project is delivered on time and to budget
      • Manage the delivery of Contractor designed portions of the work
      • Coordinating Value Engineering efforts during the construction phase
      • Working with the Client’s commercial and PCG team to develop Budget Management and Tracking
      • Liaising with the Client’s schedule management team to provide Schedule monitoring, tracking and analysis
    • Close out/Fit up
      • Initiating close out process prior to project commencement, typically two to three months in advance of Contractor awards
      • Ensure tagging process is managed throughout the lifecycle of the project
      • Manage the commissioning of the Owner Furnished Equipment and delivery to site
      • Establish a robust commissioning procedure
      • Establishing close out documentation requirements with the Client’s document controller. Collect and track receipt of all close out documents until completion, including warranties, as-builts, O&M manuals, etc.
      • Assisting with City and/or other Authority final inspections and occupancy process.
      • Assisting the Client in scheduling, coordination and management of all Owner-direct vendors, consultants.

    • Contractual and commercial understanding of multiple forms of contract
    • Track record in delivery of large critical infrastructure projects
    • Can demonstrate an in depth knowledge of HSE in construction
    • Ability to manage technical disciplines.
    • Experience of a client interface role
    • Experience of managing a large scale team
    • Experience working on Data Centre new build and refurbishment projects, preferably on hyperscale builds, would be advantageous
    • Ability to coordinate the work of other discipline specific Owner’s Representatives to achieve the objectives set by the client
    • Ability to commit to significant international travel
