Working within our established Transmission & Distribution team, you will be responsible for undertaking substation earthing measurements ensuring the health & safety of substation operatives. You will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing test equipment and liaising with clients to schedule works. Reporting to an Engineer, you will assist in the delivery of project-related site measurements and developing reports to issue to the client. You will conduct risk analysis of the work area and identify potential hazards and risks. Using your expertise in Electrical Earthing you will make recommendations on mitigation for any issues identified, or work with stakeholders to agree actions. The role requires flexibility to visit site locations across the UK.
Role accountabilities
- Earthing system measurements including but not limited to:
- Soil resistivity measurements
- Earthing resistance/impedance measurements
- Conductor tracing
- Earthing continuity measurements
- Visual condition inspections
- Production of risk assessments / Method Statements and taking responsibility for Health and Safety
- Production of reports detailing the site measurement results
- Maintaining and repairing test equipment
Qualifications & Experience
- Working knowledge of earthing system measurements
- Ability to communicate technical issues to peers or senior managers
- Ability to develop working relationships quickly and effectively
- Experience in writing clear and concise documentation
- Flexibility to travel both in the UK and overseas
- Full clean driving licence
- First aid training
- Experience in HV substation environments and/or substation authorisations for Transmission / Distribution system operators
