Working within the Pan-Global and UK Technical Due Diligence and Commission Management team (that sits within the Lenders, Investors and Insurers (LI&I) business), the Environmental Consultant (Level 6) will support our Environmental Due Diligence Director and Project Leader, assisting in the coordination, management and delivery of Environmental Due Diligence on UK and multi-jurisdictional property transactions. The individual will also regularly engage and work with our core environmental team that sits within our Resilience part of the business.
The role will comprise a variety of activities including commission management in addition to carrying out transaction focused Phase 1 Environmental Assessments. The role is a full-time position supporting a growing transaction advisory team delivering Environmental Due Diligence across a wide range of asset classes and portfolios. The nature of the role, supporting fast-track transactions, requires flexibility and a willingness to support delivery outside of core working hours on occasion to meet client and programme deadlines.
The role requires an individual with strong technical, organisational and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced transactional environment. A proactive, pragmatic and commercially minded approach is essential.
Role accountabilities- Support and lead commission management and delivery of Pan-Global Environmental Due Diligence transactions.
- Work collaboratively with Arcadis environmental delivery teams across multiple jurisdictions to understand local environmental regulatory frameworks at a high level and ensure consistency of output.
- Apply professional judgement to assess environmental risk proportionately and in line with transaction context and client risk appetite.
- Provide continuity of Environmental Due Diligence service during peak workload periods and periods of planned or unplanned leave.
- Support senior team members on complex environmental matters including SPA negotiations and W&I insurance considerations.
- Coordinate programmes, quality control and delivery of Environmental Due Diligence outputs across portfolios and single-asset instructions.
- Support identification and delivery of upsell opportunities including Flood Risk, Climate Risk and ESG-related advisory services.
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders across LI&I, Sustainability Advisory and international delivery teams.
- Follow and contribute to the development of processes to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency of service delivery.
- Demonstrates a sound technical understanding of Environmental Due Diligence within a transactional context.
- Applies commercial awareness and professional judgement when advising on environmental risk.
- Manages own workload effectively across multiple commissions with minimal supervision.
- Communicates clearly and confidently with clients, internal stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Works collaboratively across disciplines and geographies, contributing positively to team performance.
- Demonstrates initiative, accountability and a solutions-focused mindset.
- Typically 2-4 years’ experience within environmental consultancy with a focus on Environmental Due Diligence.
- Experience supporting or leading Environmental Due Diligence on property transactions.
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Competent user of SharePoint, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Proactive, flexible and commercially aware.
