Role description: The Places Design Practice is seeking a Senior Engineer with proven experience in the design and delivery of civil engineering and urban development elements within building projects.

You will cover areas such as: Surface and foul drainage Utilities and utility coordination Groundworks / earthworks Highways interfaces You will support Urban Development services across the Places Design Practice, collaborating with cross‑GBA teams, GEC and global Places specialists.

Experience in Industrial Manufacturing, Technology or Defence projects is a strong plus.

Role accountabilities: Lead sustainable engineering; embed Arcadis H&S.

Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

Set and drive collaboration with global teams.

Manage design outputs: drawings, BIM, reports, specs.

Attend meetings; review and assure quality.

Maintain engineering governance aligned to Arcadis IMS.

Own Designer Hazard Logs; communicate residual risks.

Plan and coordinate tasks, people and resources to programme and budget.

Own Design Decision Logs and Assumptions.

Be technical lead; resolve issues and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications and experience: Degree qualified; Chartered or Incorporated (near‑chartered considered).

Proven civil/urban development design delivery on building projects: drainage (surface & foul), highways, utilities.

Proficient in Micro Drainage/Info Drainage, Auto CAD Civil 3D and BIM.

Strong knowledge of Su DS, Sewers for Adoption (Sf A), DMRB and Building Regulations.

Project management experience: planning, scheduling, commercial and client management.

Demonstrable leadership: directing teams and supporting development.

Strong technical judgement; evidence‑based problem‑solving and ability to perform manual calculations.
