Role Description

Create a Legacy Across the UK's Largest Rail Projects. Every railway tells a story. The next chapter is being written through some of the UK's most significant transport investments, and Arcadis is looking for Rail Systems professionals who want to help shape what comes next. Whether you are early in your career, building specialist expertise, or bringing years of delivery experience, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that will transform how people and communities connect. From HS2 and Washwood Heath Depot to Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), Navan and other major rail programmes, you'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure that will leave a lasting impact for generations.

Role Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of rail systems design, integration, assurance and engineering activities across major rail programmes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders to develop and deliver integrated rail systems solutions.
  • Support the development, coordination and verification of systems engineering requirements throughout project lifecycles.
  • Apply systems thinking to solve complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Contribute to safety, reliability, performance and operational readiness objectives.
  • Participate in systems integration, interface management and assurance activities.
  • Support the development of innovative, sustainable and efficient engineering solutions.
  • Share technical knowledge and contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and project partners while supporting successful project outcomes.
  • Help deliver infrastructure that improves connectivity, enhances passenger experience and creates long-term value for communities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • We welcome applications from professionals at all career stages, including graduates, engineers, senior engineers, principal engineers and technical specialists.
  • Experience within rail systems engineering or a related rail discipline.
  • Knowledge of one or more rail systems areas such as signalling, telecoms, E&P, traction power, SCADA, control systems, systems integration, systems assurance or systems engineering.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle delivery within complex infrastructure programmes.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Ability to analyse technical challenges and contribute to practical, effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commitment to collaboration, safety and continuous learning.
  • Professional qualifications, chartership or progress towards professional registration are welcome but not essential.
  • A passion for delivering infrastructure that creates lasting benefits for passengers, communities and future generations.
  • Due to the nature of some of the projects we deliver, successful candidates may be required to obtain and maintain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance. Support will be provided throughout the process where applicable.
