The Enabling Infrastructure team is a seasoned group of engineers specialised in delivery of development‑led infrastructure projects across Birmingham, London, Bristol, and Cardiff offices. We are looking for an experienced Engineer to expand capacity in central England, primarily based in Birmingham, with consideration of our agile / hybrid working policy.

Projects span all global business areas – Mobility, Places, and Resilience – and include sectors such as strategic housing & residential, commercial & employment, transport hubs and major transport (rail and highways) projects. We are actively building client relationships in the ports and logistics sector and welcome candidates with experience in these areas.

Role Accountabilities

  • Provide engineering design support within the Enabling Infrastructure team and offer technical advice.
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings and calculations for development‑related infrastructure design commissions, covering surface water, foul water, highways, and utilities, ensuring compliance with client requirements and adoptable standards.
  • Support project delivery through quality assurance, client feedback, and effective communication of any changes or modifications.
  • Collaborate with design disciplines and contractor D&B teams to maintain overall design integrity.
  • Adhere to Business Management processes and procedures.
  • Assist in achieving broader business goals for positive safety, health, quality, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Continuously update industry knowledge and seek opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior experience in development infrastructure projects, particularly in design of solutions for development infrastructure.
  • Experience in surface water, foul water drainage, highways, earthworks, and utilities design.
  • Knowledge of SuDS, SfA, DMRB, and Local Authority design standards.
  • Experience preparing initial feasibility and site appraisal studies as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil3D for infrastructure design and Microdrainage/Infodrainage for drainage design.
  • Awareness of design delivery to BIM protocols.
  • Self‑motivated with strong interpersonal skills to influence outcomes.
  • Made positive progress toward Chartered or Incorporated status.
